C. Blake Evernden

C. Blake Evernden is an independent filmmaker, professional illustrator, concept artist, and makeup fx designer. His illustration work has been published as cover art for three independent novels, for the cover of Rue Morgue magazine, and subsequent t-shirt and puzzle designs, in the summer of 2018. His movie poster paintings/illustrations have been featured in a gallery setting in the summer of 2018, and he's been commissioned to design and paint movie posters for a variety of independent features, shorts and theatre productions.

 

He has crafted two feature films as writer-director, as well as working professionally as a special makeup fx artist on five independent features, as well as more than 20 short films, music videos and commercials, some in conjunction with institutions such as the Canadian Film Centre. ​He has worked professionally as a storyboard and concept artist in the commercial industry for the past fifteen years, including concept and character development artwork, has been commissioned to production manage, photograph and edit documentary research shoots to New York, and his makeup fx work has been recognized through the San Antonio genre festival Horrorfest for Best Special FX.

 

His masters thesis film, “Prairie Dog”, has screened internationally at over 19 festivals and won six awards in the process, being picked up for international distribution through ITN. His short films, “Spider”, A Wink or a Smile”, “Rationale” and “Muse” have played at over 47 festivals worldwide and won 6 awards between them. He designs and paints the original artwork for each of his films, with his poster artworks having been accepted and featured at 6 international film festivals as well. He's recently completed a very successful crowdfunding campaign for his latest short, “Aperture”, photographed on a mixture of 16mm black and white and Super 8 colour films, of which he will be painting 6 original matte paintings to composite in the film as well as the original poster art for the final work.
